The MIRA Home is more than just a place to sleep. It is more than a shelter, more than a program. It is a declaration. A battle cry. A lifeline thrown into the storm.

This is where restoration begins — not just for women whose lives have been shattered by addiction, trauma, and exploitation, but for an entire society that has lost its way. At the MIRA Home — which stands for May Internal Restoration Abound — we believe that every healed woman is a ray of light in the darkness. Every life restored is a step toward reconciling our world to the heart of God.

Look around. Watch the world pass by with cold eyes and hurried feet. You’ll see her — standing at the offramp with a cardboard sign. Kneeling in some back alley, needle in arm. Selling her body just for a place to sleep. She was a little girl once, made in the image of God, just like you and me. “So God created mankind in His own image, in the image of God He created them; male and female He created them.” (Genesis 1:27)

If our hearts no longer break when we see her, if we pass her by without being moved, maybe we are not as close to the heart of our Savior as we think. Jesus said the greatest commandment is to love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind — and the second is like it: “Love your neighbor as
yourself.” (Matthew 22:37-39)

These women are our neighbors. Our sisters. Our sacred responsibility.

Their pain runs deep. Nearly 90% of addicted women were sexually abused as children or grew up under the weight of severe violence. Mental illness and substance use don’t just happen — they’re often the aftershocks of unthinkable trauma. Add homelessness to the mix, and you have a perfect storm of
vulnerability. That’s when traffickers strike — disguising control as care, pretending love while plotting ruin.

But here — at the MIRA Home — the cycle breaks.

As part of Teen Challenge, the MIRA Home is where lies are unlearned, where dignity is restored, and where women come face to face with the God who never stopped pursuing them. We offer more than a roof. We offer real, lasting transformation — through biblical mentoring, life-skills training, and the kind
of love that sticks.

And we can’t do it alone.

We need people who will stand in the gap with us. Who believe, like we do, that no story is too messy for mercy. That healing isn’t just possible — it’s promised. Together, we can pull daughters, sisters, and mothers from the margins and bring them home.
